Why isn't my social media working?
Usually because it's being asked to do a job nobody defined. Posting is not a strategy — it's an activity. Social works when each post has a purpose, the content is worth stopping for, and there's somewhere for the interest to go once you've earned it.
What working social actually looks like
- A defined job per post. Awareness, trust, explanation, conversion, or retention — content made to fill a calendar does none of them.
- Content worth the stop. Short-form built to capture attention in the first three seconds, not a flyer reposted as a square.
- Management and marketing are different work. One keeps your presence alive and responsive; the other puts budget behind picked audiences. Most "social isn't working" stories confused the two.
- A next step attached. The post earns the click; the website, the conversation, and the follow-up decide whether the click becomes a customer.
What it gets you
A presence that compounds instead of churns — an audience that recognizes you, engages with you, and has somewhere obvious to go when they're ready.
What it doesn't do
Social alone rarely closes anything. It's the start-conversations layer of a system — if the website can't answer questions and nobody follows up, better posts just produce better-looking dead ends.
